Definition

By default, air requirements assume that all passengers are Adults (ADT), however, other types of additional passengers may be detailed.

The types of passengers can indicate a number of circumstances, including age, companion status, organizational affiliation, special assistance, etc.

Passenger Type Codes consist of 3 letters in their encoding.





Reservation

The Passenger Type Code must be entered in the name field so that the passenger can qualify for that specific discount type.


Name

The entry to specify the PTC will be as following:

  • If you want to use a PTC of a minor passenger type, for example UNN or CNN, you must first enter CHD.

  • In case of specifying only the PTC UNN, without the correct passenger type (CHD), the system will respond: INVALID

Fare

The PTC should be entered in the Passenger Type Code box so the fare could be offered and quoted when there is a match with the passenger type code included in the reservation.

To create a new fare, the entry is:

Quotation

If the PTC is entered in the name field, the quotation process will look for a fare applying to that Passenger Type Code.

PTC will be shown under the TYPE column.

Infant and Child passenger type codes will be quoted with the lowest available fare associated to the Adult passenger.

Info

Fare selection hierarchy:

  1. PTC specific fare

  2. PTC ADT fare with discount in OD category (Other Discounts).

  3. Lowest PTC ADT fare

Warning

  • If there is fare with PTC specific (example YOW USD 1000.00) and another with a discount on the OD for the same PTC (example YOWYTH USD 200.00), the system will always offer the fare with PTC specific, even if it is more expensive.

  • In case you want to apply the other fare with discount in the OD for that PTC, you should quote it by using the option * Q

Note

When no fare is found for the discount entered in the name field, the system searches for the ADT fare that applies to that fare class. No error message will be displayed.
