MAN_Seat Map Configuration

Managing the seat map from the control panel (version 1)

In this module you will learn to manage the seat map assigned to a flight for Check-in.

There are 2 versions available for administrating the different seat characteristics on the Seat Map.

  • Version 1 is the default version distributed to all airlines.
  • Version 2 includes the possibility to configure new special seat characteristics for the same seat and it also includes the possibility to configure double-decker aircrafts.
  • The new seat characteristics on version 2 are the multiple characteristics associated to one seat and the rows configuration for double-decker aircrafts,  indicating the upper and the main aircraft decks  which can be displayed only in KIU COMMAND as it is not yet available in the graphic mode. Anyway, version 2 Graphical Seating Chart will also displayed the seat characteristics available on version 1.

Introducción

Special feature configurations for flight seat map can be managed at check-in. Special features can be added for each seat on the seat map when checking in and also from the flight Control Panel (PC)

Description

  • In order to manage the different seat characteristics that can be configured on the seat map, there are 2 version types.

  • Version 1 is the one distributed to all airlines and it is the one by default.

  • Version 2 includes the possibility of configuring new special features for the same seat and also includes aircraft  seat map with 2 floors (upper and main deck)

  • These new multiple features included in version 2 can be configured for the same seat on native mode together with rows identifying the aircraft floor (upper and main deck) Unfortunately these new features are not available for the graphical seat map. However if version 2 is activated, characteristics available on version 1 will be also displayed on the graphical seat map.

Activate version type:

  • The version  will be configured and activated under airline request to KIU Support (host@kiusys.com or your Executive Account)

Soported Features

  • This version incorporates the possibility for assigning and displaying multiple characteristics to the same seat and allows managing new characteristics that are not avaialable in version 1 (seats that have an electric charger, seats that allow seating people in wheelchairs, seats that allow seating unaccompanied minors)

  • In the upper deck special and multiple characteristics can be configured for seats and rows in the same way that it is configured for the main deck.
  • This configuration allows managing multiple seat characteristics (both operational and commercial) It also incorporates the possibility to configure/view  seats for passengers with reduced mobility (PMR as i.e, wheelchair) and unaccompanied minors.
  • These new features are only displayed in native mode either with the PV or PC command. These features are not displayed in the graphical seat map which is displayed when checking a passenger in or requesting the PS.

Configuration of Seat Map characteristics (Version 1)

Introduction

This chapter explains the methodology for assigning special seat characteristics to the database seat map on the OAC list for an airline with version 1 activated

Description

  • Special characteristics can be established for each seat and they are defined with this characteristic in the seat map associated with a configuration
  • Depending on the type of activation that the airline has, there are 2 types of configuration in the administration and display of seat maps.
  • This chapter describes the methodology for assigning features with version 1 activated
  • Activation by type:

    • The airline can choose the version to be configured but only Kiu Support can activate the required configuration.

Configuration of seat map equipment characteristics (Version 2)

Introduction

This chapter explains the methodology for assigning the special characteristics of the seats in the seating maps of the teams through the OAC; taking into account that the activation of the airline for the administration of seat maps is version 2.

Description

  • Special characteristics can be established for each seat and that they are defined with this characteristic in the seat map associated with a configuration
  • Depending on the type of activation that the airline has, there are 2 types of configuration in the administration and visualization of seat maps.
  • This chapter describes the methodology for assigning features with version 1 activated Version

Activation by type:

  • The version to be used by the airline is configurable by the customer and must be requested from Support for its configuration

Features supported by the version 2

  • This version incorporates the possibility of assigning and displaying multiple characteristics to the same seat and allows managing new characteristics that are not in force in version 1 (seats that have an electricity charger, seats that allow assigning people in wheelchairs, seats that allow unaccompanied minors to sit)
  • It also allows the configuration of seat maps identifying aircraft configurations with two floors. The upper deck is identified as the upper deck and the main deck as the main deck
  • In the seats that are in the rows configured in the upper deck, special and multiple characteristics can also be configured (in the same way that it is configured in the main deck)
  • This configuration It allows managing the map of seats that contain multiple characteristics in the same seat (both operational and commercial) and also incorporates the possibility of configuring/viewing seats that allow passengers with reduced mobility (wheelchair) and unaccompanied minor (unaccompanied minor).
  • These new features are only displayed on the drop-down seat map at the PV, PC, OAC and KPRS, that is, they are not displayed on the graph that is displayed at the time of check-in or when requesting the PS.

The special characteristics that can be associated (both for the upper deck and for the main deck) to the seats are the following:

Seat map configuration

Special characteristics can be configured for each seat and they are defined with this characteristic in the seat map associated with a configuration

To configure the special characteristic features for each seat in the equipment, perform following steps:

1. OAC/SMR157 (seat map retrieval to modify)
2. OAC/SMM/ (seat/row/column configuration)
3. OAC/SMV (seat map display modified seat map)
4. OAC/SME (save the changes made to the seat map)
5. OAC/SMI (ignores the changes made)

Seat map retrieval

Retrieve on screen the seat map to be configured with the following command:

To see the seat map of a reserved flight, the command is the following

Modification/configuration of seat characteristics

  • The commands to configure the special seat characteristics are as follows:
    • Once the seat map is displayed, indicate the update or modification to be made.
  • Depending on the activated version for managing the seat map, the commands to configure the special seat characteristics are the following
OAC/SMM//<indicator><seat>

Where:

  • Indicator: is the configuration code of the special feature to configure (according to the table previously described; in this case for this version the code is two characters)
  • Seat: is the identification of the row and/or column of the seat to configure

Example:

OAC/SMM//AI10F

Delete a previously configured feature

If you want to delete the configuration of a feature of a seat, you must enter the command as follows, with the symbol negative in front of the seat number, as shown below:

OAC/SMM//<indicator>-<seat>

Example:

OAC/SMM//AI-10F

With this entry the permission is removed so that seat 10F is available for a passenger with no infant

View / Redisplay seat map

Once the updates have been registered in the seat map, you can view these changes by transmitting the following  command:

OAC/SMV

Ignore seat map

To ignore what is being modified or created before:

OAC/SMI

Save seat map

Once all the indicators have been added, you must record/save the seat map characteristics:

OAC/SME

Delete seat map

OAC/SMD{seat map number created}

Clone seat map

OAC/SMC{seat map number created}

Generate a graphical seat map

Once the seat map is created, we can generate a graphical seat map.

OAC/SMG{seat map number created}

  • If the configuration of a seat map, which is in use for a flight, is modified, the changes will not be automatically shown. The aircraft registration in use will have to be unassigned, then a different registration should be assigned before reassigning the original registration in order to view the latest updates introduced.
  • At this time the changes made in the OAC/SM will be displayed.

Displaying the multiple characteristics of a seat

  • The option of visualizing all the characteristics configured in the same seat is incorporated.
  • Seats that have multiple features can be identified on the seat map showing  a "+" sign for the commercial features that seat has, and a "*" sign when it has multiple operational features
  • Identification of multiple characteristics for the same entry (from the SMR or with the SMV)
